Back from School Break Showcase
The early evening event, starting at 7:00pm, will be held Saturday, February 6, 2010, and is targeted towards the University of Tennessee college students and Knox County School kids of all ages. Hyfantis & the Bishops Band will bring their smooth, R&B-influenced pop-rock sounds to the Bijou, using the event to debut their first full length CD. You'll find Kevin Hyfantis' voice and songwriting imagery to take you to a place where Bruce Springsteen, Ray LaMontagne, and a young Rod Stewart are sitting around playing and swapping songs after talking about life and girls. After the break up of Brit Rock act, Angel & the Love Mongers, following their Bonnaroo 2007 appearance, Angel Zuniga Martinez is supporting his debut solo album release, The Cage. Angel's Tex Mex and R&B roots will be felt dripping through a tasty melodic pop rock sandwich. The diversity of the songs on album, which will be performed all LIVE, will let you think you hear Morrissey and Freddie Mercury one moment then Jim Morrison and Freddie Fender the next.

Zunimar Music, a Tennessee-based record label and BMI affiliated music publishing company, is looking for a talented singer/songwriter to perform at their "Back from School Break Showcase." The selected artist can expect enormous publicity, an electric audience and a very good time. This artist will be the opening act for the showcase, which also happens to be a CD release party, and one Sonicbids artist is guaranteed a slot. Not to mention, Zunimar will provide complimentary lodging accommodations.
This lucky artist must be a local or regional acoustic singer/songwriter possessing a smooth, R&B flair. This gig is nonpaying, but offers an artist the opportunity to receive awesome exposure and networking capabilities.
The selected artist will open up for Hyfantis and the Bishops Band, who will bring their smooth, R&B-influenced pop-rock sounds to the Bijou, using the event to debut their first full length CD. The Sonicbids member will find great company in Kevin, as his voice and songwriting reflects that of Bruce Springsteen, Ray LaMontagne, and a young Rod Stewart.
In November 2009, singer/songwriter and former banker, Angel Zuniga Martinez, conceived the idea of a local, indie performing artist collaborative designed for and run by artists. The idea led to the formation of ZUNIMAR Music- a record label & BMI Affiliated music publishing company.
Plans have begun to launch a community minded and affordable local concert series, that creates a diverse cultural experience. From original Jazz and R&B to Gospel and Alternative Latino Rock, The local showcases will help foster unique relationship building. These artists will have an atmosphere to connect with their target audience and sponsors while supporting nonprofit agencies that are making a difference addressing social concerns artists voice within their art. Selected artists can also get involved in future educational music workshops along with helping build a licensing and publishing library of songs for placement within TV, Film, and commercials.
The Event is brought together by ZUNIMAR Music, with primary sources of funding obtained from corporate sponsors, patrons of the arts, revenue from admission tickets and merchandise sales. Zunimar Music receives no governmental funds.
A portion of the proceeds benefit the nonprofit, The Knoxville Family Justice Center located at 400 Harriet Tubman St, Ste 219, Knoxville, TN 37915. Their vision is to create a network of multi-agency service centers for victims of family violence and their children. The majority of funds are used to cover expenses such as insurance, security, sanitary facilities, equipment rental, entertainment, advertising and printing costs to make a clean, safe and well-attended showcase event for patrons and sponsors. Any remaining proceeds are given to The Bijou Theatre which strives to bring special cultural and entertainment events that will enrich the lives of East Tennesseans, stimulate cultural diversity, promote the growth of downtown, and reflect excellence in the performing arts.
